Grades

An easy way to make the grades on an outdoor gardeen Railroad is to use 3/8's Dowles and string.

You can buy or rent a laser level to find the median center point of grade for the layout.  Mark the beginning dowel at the height you need. Then place the next dowl and subsequent dowels on the right of way 50 inches apart. Using the level, mark the dowel 1/2 inch higher or lower than the stake before and that will be a 1% grade. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I will be glad to answer any questions you might have

Thanks John, it is appreciated. Using a laser level to find the median height of the llayout to drive in the first dowel and every 50 inches put in another dowel. Mark the stakes according to the height you need and marking the next stake 1/2 will give you a 1% grade. The second picture is Queen Creek Arizona. Metal stakes had to be used
